Here's one fun-to-do activity: stickin' stuff to things! What a simple and effective way to infuse that ever longed-for sense of play & spontaneity back into the course of our work-a-day world. Go ahead and glue a little pizzazz onto the public sphere - but be careful, it's contagious!

Just take your ordinary flea-market figurines, some epoxy(tm) super-adhesive, a few blank name tags and a pen, and hit the streets. That, and a little bit of *inspiration* is about all it takes to get the party started right.

Vending machines, utility boxes, and "walk/don't-walk" signs are all fair game in this new landscape of art and war. So let the street be your canvas, and the city be your guide.

Tips & tricks:
  • context & placement are everything.
  • visually obvious locations can be glorious, but short lived.
  • the more discreet the spot, the longer it will stay.
  • write the text on the name tag BEFORE you adhere it.

The series displayed below is entitled "alters of reason", and was exhibited in micro-installation format throughout the retail block of Lakeshore Avenue. Pieces there lasted between 2 days and 2 years. If "the ave" is your locale, than perhaps you've noticed one or two of these.
