Godfather of the Guerrilla Movie Movement

"Movies on the wall, all night long!" - "BYO Radio for fm stereo transmission! - Those were the days. In the year 2k Nonchalance acquired an LCD projector and an FM radio transmitter and set out to illuminate the walls adjacent to vacant parking lots in the downtown Oakland area. Playing local independent shorts, cult films, and other obscure video, the Liberation Drive-In was a free underground event, gathering diverse crowds and breathing life in to the neglected area.
Since that time multiple other outdoor movie nights have sprung up around the bay area and beyond, provoking a global movement. (Once Readymade Magazine published our production notes, the gates were wide open). First the Santa Cruz Guerrilla Drive-In wrote us and asked how to do it, then the City of Oakland began producing their own outdoor cinema series. There was the SF Video Riots, the Illuminated Corridor, and eventually Mobile-Movie who are the current holders of the torch, receiving international media attention for their Drive-In events.
